Dr. Hao is the founding attorney of Hao Law P.C. Originally from China, he has received degrees from universities in three different continents. Before he started law school, he was a successful scientist with a Ph.D. degree in Applied Biological Sciences and five years’ postdoc experience in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. During his career as a researcher, he has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals, which has been cited for more than 1400 times (see http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=DbPCwHQAAAAJ for Google Scholar results).

While in law school,  he put his emphasis on the courses related to health law and intellectual property law (as a matter of fact, the health law and intellectual property law programs in The University of Houston Law Center are highly ranked among similar programs in the country). One of his research papers on the legal consequences of future individual whole-genome sequencing has won the Ewer-Oren JD Health Law Writing Competition sponsored by The University of Houston Law Center Health Law and Policy Institute. He has interned in the intellectual property group in one of the largest full-service law firms in China, where he assisted the leading attorneys to work on several international copyright and patent infringement cases. He also served as a student attorney in the Immigration Clinic in The University of Houston Law Center, where he has dealt with several difficult asylum and citizenship cases.

After the law school, he observed the legal needs of the foreign-born professional and business immigrants in the U.S., and started Hao Law P.C. to better represent them dealing with the complicated U.S. laws and regulations. The firm’s practices include four different but related areas: immigration law, health law, intellectual property law and business law. Dr. Hao and his team are dedicated to serving the professionals and entrepreneurs who would like to face the challenges in a different country.

Dr. Hao is fluent in English and Chinese. In his leisure time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and reading.
